GANNON SWIMMERS DEFEAT DIVISION I
CANISIUS COLLEGE ON THE ROAD

BUFFALO, N.Y. - The Gannon University swimming teams defeated NCAA Division I host Canisius College Saturday afternoon. The men’s squad finished with a score of 143-119 over the Golden Griffins (3-8), giving the Golden Knights an 8-3 dual record this season. The Lady Knights improved to 9-4 in duals with their 136-118 victory over Canisius (2-11).
   
In women’s action, Ellie Hess (Lower Burrell, Pa/Burrell) finished the day as a quadruple-winner. Hess took the 200-yard freestyle in 2 minutes, 1.27 seconds and the 100 freestyle in 55.56.
   
The freshman joined triple-winners Sarah Lawton (Franklin, Pa./Franklin), Rachel Rzymek (Erie, Pa./McDowell), and Liz Clary (Canton, Ohio/Glen Oak) in a 1:55.82 take of the 200 medley relay.
   
Hess’ fourth win came as a participant on the Lady Knights 200 freestyle relay team. Hess, Lawton, Rzymek, and Brenna Pease (Erie, Pa./Iroquois) won the event in 1:43.69.
   
Lawton won the 200 backstroke in 2:20.03. Rzymek needed only 25.72 to take the 50 freestyle. Clary placed first in the 100 backstroke (1:06.75) and the 500 freestyle (5:03.05).
   
Seth Hazlett (Leechburg, Pa./Kiski Area) earned a quadruple-win for the Gannon men’s squad. Hazlett opened the afternoon with a 1:38.73 win in the 200 medley relay, along with Connor Wolf (Canton, Ohio/Central Catholic) and double-winners Richie DiLoreto (Erie, Pa./McDowell) and John Krakowski (Erie, Pa./Cathedral Prep).
   
The junior moved on to take the 50 freestyle (22.76) and 100 butterfly (53.08) before joining DiLoreto, Krakowski, and David Landry (Huntingdon, Pa/Huntingdon Area) in a 1:28.55 take of the 200 freestyle.

Gannon concludes the 2007-08 regular season at Indiana University of Pennsylvania on Saturday, February 2. The dual is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
