QUALIFIES FOR
DIVISION II NATIONALS
MEADVILLE, Pa. - The
Gannon University diving team participated in an exhibition against
Allegheny College Saturday, February 2.
Gannon’s Megan Beresford (Greensburg,
Pa./Hempfield Area) finished first in one-meter diving with
251.60 points, enough to earn her a qualification at the NCAA Division
II Championships. The freshman needed 245 points in six dives to
qualify.
Beresford also qualified for the women’s three-meter diving competition
at nationals after scoring 258.00 points in six dives. She needed 255
points to qualify. Beresford finished the event behind Allegheny’s
Glenna Kramer (263.15).
In men’s diving, Brandon Chambers
(Jessup, Md./Mount Saint Joseph) finished second in both the
one-meter (177.90) and three-meter (159.85) events.
Gannon’s swimming and diving teams begin competition at the Great Lakes
Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championships on Wednesday,
February 13. The four-day event will be hosted by the University of
Indianapolis.
