KNIGHTS DEFEAT
DIVISION I CLEVELAND STATE
MEN’S SWIMMING SQUAD SPLITS THE DAY
CLEVELAND, Ohio. - The
Gannon University women’s swimming team remains undefeated after
sweeping all opponents at the City College Meet, hosted by Cleveland
State University, Tuesday afternoon. The Lady Knights overtook their
NCAA Division I host 123-107, while also defeating Baldwin-Wallace
168-71 and Notre Dame (Ohio) 160-75.
Sarah Lawton (Franklin, Pa./Franklin)
posted a triple-win by winning the 100 backstroke (1:02.55), 200 medley
relay (1:58.89), and 200 freestyle relay (1:42.50). Ellie Hess (Lower Burrell, Pa./Burrell),
Liz Clary (Canton, Ohio/Glen Oak),
and Rachel Rzymek (Erie, Pa./McDowell)
joined Lawton on the 200 medley relay team. Hess, Ashlee Calandra (Hamburg, N.Y./Frontier),
and Brenna Pease (Erie, Pa./Iroquois)
also participated in the 200 freestyle relay.
Hess, Clary, Calandra, and Pease each recorded double-wins. Along with
a win in the 200 freestyle relay, Calandra took the 200 freestyle
(2:00.46) and Pease won the 500 freestyle (5:18.18). Clary topped her
competition in the 200 IM (2:19.34), adding to her relay win.
The men’s squad split the day at the City College meet, defeating
Baldwin-Wallace 141-90 but falling to Cleveland State 176-60.
Connor Wolf (Canton, Ohio/Central
Catholic) took second in the 200 IM (1:56.85). Richie DiLoreto (Erie, Pa./McDowell)
placed second in the 100 backstroke (58.50).
The men’s and women’s swimming teams continue dual action against Penn
State Behrend on Friday, November 16. The event is scheduled to begin
at 5 p.m.
