GANNON SWIMMERS DEFEAT
ALLEGHENY COLLEGE AT HOME

 
ERIE, Pa. - The Gannon University men’s and women’s swimming teams swept Allegheny College in a home dual meet. The men’s squad defeated Allegheny 145-86, while the Lady Knights out-scored the Lady Gators 137-104.
 
The mean’s team recorded four triple-winners. Mitchel Meighen (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) posted times of 1:51.03 in the 200 freestyle, 5:07.30 in the 500 freestyle, and 3:24.98 in the 400 freestyle relay. Joseph Wagner (Saxonburg, Pa./Knoch), Andrew Bennett (Avella, Pa./South Fayette), and Igor Makovey (Indiana, Pa./Indiana Senior) also participated on the 400 freestyle relay team.
   
Juniors Connor Wolf (Canton, Ohio/Central Catholic) and Seth Hazlett (Leechburg, Pa./Kiski Area), along with Taylor Corn (Independence, Ohio/Independence) and David Landry (Huntingdon, Pa./Huntingdon Area), took the 400 medley relay (3:44.06). Hazlett also won the 200 butterfly (2:07.31) and 200 backstroke (2:03.29). Wolf won the 200 breaststroke in 2:45.75 and needed 2:04.35 to complete the 200 IM. Landry rounded out triple-winners with first-place wins in the 100 freestyle (50.95) and 50 freestyle (22.97).
   
The Lady Knights produced one triple-winner. Brenna Pease (Erie, Pa./Iroquois) joined Ellie Hess (Lower Burrell, Pa./Burrell), Shannon Bonsmann (Lake Mary, Fla./Lake Mary), and Liz Clary (Canton, Ohio/Glen Oak) in taking the 400 freestyle relay (3:44.43). Pease also won the 200 freestyle (1:58.00) and the 500 freestyle (5:17.12). Hess’s 54.74 take of the 100 freestyle made her a double winner.
   
Gannon will host the University of Findlay on Saturday, November 10. The match is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
