GANNON'S HAY NAMED TO
ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT TEAM
ERIE, Pa. - Gannon’s
Andy Hay (Grove City, Pa./Grove City) has been named to the ESPN
The Magazine Academic All-District II second team released Friday afternoon.
Hay was one of five defenders named to the second team. The junior has played
in 15 matches this season, starting 12. He has been a major part of Gannon’s
defensive success this season. The Golden Knights lead the GLIAC in goals
allowed (19), goals against average (1.10), and shutouts (4). Hay also scored
a goal during a 4-1 victory at Ashland.
In the classroom, Hay has a 3.85 cumulative grade-point average while majoring
in Sport & Exercise Science. He is a member of the GLIAC All-Academic
team.
The 2007 Academic All-District II men’s soccer teams were selected by members
of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). The 12 first-team
members will now move to the national ballot for Academic All-America consideration.
The All-America teams are scheduled to be released Monday, November 19.
The District II College Division consists of all NCAA Division II, NCAA Division
III, and NAIA colleges and universities in Delaware, the District of Columbia,
Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia. To be nominated for
the Academic All-America program, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore
with a 3.2 cumulative grade-point average and a starter or significant reserve
on his team.
