GANNON RECORDS A "DNF" AT WAYNE
STATE MEN'S GOLF INVITATIONAL
DETROIT, Mich.
- The Gannon men’s golf team recorded a “did not finish” Monday afternoon
at the Motor City Invitational hosted by Wayne State University. Rain and
poor course conditions forced a delay during Monday’s final round and the
Golden Knights were forced to withdraw for travel purposes.
Wayne State won the team title with a two-day score of 576, shooting rounds
of 291 and 285. Saginaw Valley State (296-287-583), Ashland (302-290-592),
Owens Community College (309-284-593), and Tiffin (306-294-600) completed
the top five. Gannon was tied for 11th place after posting a 317 during the
first round.
Wayne State’s Brett Hudson captured the individual title with a tournament-best
140, recording rounds of 71 and 69. Drew Deimel (Erie, Pa./Cathedral Prep)
was Gannon’s best golfer during the first day with a 77.
Matt Barnes (79), Pat Kloecker (79), Matt Walpole (82), and Bobby Scalise
(82) completed Gannon’s five-member team. Dan Hebert (78), Rob Hersch (80),
and Sean Callaghan (84) competed as individuals.
Gannon returns to action October 8-9 at the 2007 Great Lakes Intercollegiate
Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championships hosted by the University of Findlay
and the Findlay Country Club.
