GANNON FINISHES EIGHTH AT
GLIAC MEN'S GOLF CHAMPIONSHIPS
 
FINDLAY, Ohio - The Gannon men’s golf team finished eighth out of 10 teams Monday afternoon at the 2007 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championships hosted by the University of Findlay at the Findlay Country Club.
   
Findlay overcame a 10-stroke deficit on the final day and captured the team title with a three-round score of 879. The Oilers recorded rounds of 298, 292, and 289. Ferris State (296-292-292-880), Ashland (288-292-300-880), and Grand Valley State (302-292-289-883) completed the top four. Wayne State (295-294-303-892) and Northwood (294-294-304-892) tied for fifth place.
   
Gannon finished eighth with a three-round score of 919. The Golden Knights were tied for eighth after the first two rounds, posting a pair of 306’s during the first day. The squad completed the championships with a 307 during Tuesday’s final round.
   
Grand Valley State’s Matt Malloure won the individual championship despite entering the final round four strokes behind the leader. Malloure finished with a one-over-par 217 after posting rounds of 75, 70, and 72.
   
Drew Deimel (Erie, Pa./Cathedral Prep) was Gannon’s top golfer, tying for 22nd place with a three-round total of 227. The true freshman shot rounds of 76, 77, and 74.
   
Bobby Scalise (T29th, 74-77--77-228), Matt Barnes (T33rd, 77-76--76-229), Pat Kloecker (T42nd, 79-81-81-241), and Dan Hebert (T42nd, 85-76-80-241) completed Gannon’s five-member team.
   
Gannon returns to action October 14-15 at the Mercyhurst Invitational hosted by Lake View Country Club
