GANNON TIED FOR EIGHTH AFTER
FIRST DAY OF GLIAC CHAMPIONSHIPS
 
FINDLAY, Ohio - The Gannon men’s golf team is tied for eighth out of 10 teams after the first day of the 2007 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championships hosted by the University of Findlay at the Findlay Country Club.

Ashland leads the 10-team field with a 580 during Monday’s opening two rounds. The Eagles posted rounds of 288 and 292. Ferris State (296-292-588), Northwood (294-294-588), Wayne State (295-294-589), and Findlay (298-292-590) completed the top five. Gannon is tied for eighth with a 613. The Golden Knights recorded rounds of 307 and 306.

Ashland’s Joe D’Andrea headlines the individual field with a three-under-par 141 after the first two rounds, shooting scores of 72 and 69.

Bobby Scalise (Corry, Pa./Corry) was Gannon’s top golfer, sitting in a tie for 24th place after the first day with a 151. The redshirt sophomore shot rounds of 74 and 77.

Drew Deimel (T31st, 76-77-153), Matt Barnes (T31st, 77-76-153), Pat Kloecker (T47th, 80-81-161), and Dan Hebert (T47th, 85-76-161) completed Gannon’s five-member team.

The 2007 GLIAC Championships conclude Tuesday, October 9 with the third and final round.
