On Saturday, May 5, Gannon University's GUBotDev student robotics team, along with Erie UAV, will host the 2nd International Drone Day (IDD) for the Erie Region from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Gannon's Recreation and Wellness Center, located at 130 W. Fourth St.
This family friendly event will host drone pilots from around the area and welcomes all to see that 'Drones are Good!' This is the mantra of the approximately 150 teams throughout the world participating in IDD by holding events to educate those outside the drone community on the many positive ways in which drones are used to better society. Drones are becoming an integral part of everyday life; from search and rescue, to agriculture monitoring, to creating art, and the fast-paced world of drone racing.
This event is free and open to the public and will feature flight demonstrations for attendees of all skill levels and drone racing among local pilots.
