(APS)
Zeta Phi ChapterHome
Alpha Phi Sigma (APS) is the only National Honor Society for Criminal
Justice Majors. APS promotes leadership and scholarship among criminal
justice majors and minors. Students must attain at
least a 3.2 overall grade point average and at least a 3.2 grade point
average in criminal justice major/minor courses.
APS is an honorary andHome a
professional organization that not only highlights students’ academic
achievements but also provides students with opportunities to participate in
social and community activities.
APS offers
students many opportunities to network with professionals in the criminal
justice field, to explore job prospects, and to compete for scholarships and
awards.
The students of the Gannon University Zeta Phi chapter of APS
have participated in various conferences. A few students went to
San Diego, California for the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences (ACJS)
conference (2010), Bristol,
Rhode Island for the NEACJS conference (June 2008) and a few went to Seattle,
Washington (March 2007) to actively participate in the APS annual
leadership conference. Not only did the students enjoy the conference,
but they also attended panel presentations, met some prominent criminal
justice professors and practitioners, and took in the beautiful city.
In addition, students have also
toured
the Erie County Coroner’s Office, toured and had an inmate discussion at
SCI-Cambridge Springs, and heard presentations from U.S. Marshals, DEA, ATF
agents. Service
projects participated in include: Child Identification program (CHIP),
Safe Net, Relay for Life;
Day of Caring; and Supervision of
the Education Room at Christmas Dinner.
