Safeguards
We urge you
to keep your meal card secure at all times to avoid replacement fees. There
is a fee for any lost or stolen cards. You are REQUIRED to present your
validated I.D. card at all meals, without exception. This is for your protection.
This prevents someone who is not entitled to a meal from using your meal
plan. The Envision Meal Control System is a valuable aid in the prevention
of lost or stolen cards from being used.
If You
Forget Your Meal Card
You will be
required to pay the listed guest rate. However, we will refund this amount
to you if you present your I.D. card to the Dining Services office within
48 hours.
If You
Loose Your Meal Card
Whether you
think you lost it or have simply just misplaced your I.D. card, please
make every effort to find your meal card. If you are unsuccessful, notify
the Dining Services Office and then go to the Student Living Office for
a replacement card.

Academic Year – Dining Service Information
Gannon
University has a highly flexible, value oriented dining service. Unlike other
college dining programs it provides greater variety, greater value and greater
convenience to the student and thus has been designed for convenience, value and
variety. You may eat your meals in Beyer Dining Hall or at any of the following
retail operations Docs Landing; Knights Cove; Morosky Courtyard Cafe (hours and
brief description listed below). Beyer Dining hall provides you with the best
value for your dollar with unlimited seconds and a wide variety of choices at
each meal, including comfort food entrees, full grill concept, full mto deli,
Italian theme(pizza, Stromboli, baked casseroles, pasta bar), a fresh cook to
order concept, full salad bar, soups, desserts, full line of beverages and ice
cream. We provide a large variety of “meal deal” items at each of our cash
operations with expanded “meal deal” hours. Most other dining programs provide
only a maximum dollar amount that can be used within their retail operations, at
Gannon you can choose an entrée, side and beverage from our retail menus for no
additional cost to you and the menu is expansive. Additionally, for your
convenience, the hours have been expanded so that you can use a meal plan
meal from 7 am until 8 pm. GU Gold dollars can be used at any of these
locations as well, and the money you save on the “meal deals” allows for these
dollars to be used to treat yourself. There are three meal periods per day
during the week - breakfast, lunch and dinner, and two meal periods on weekends
– brunch and dinner. All meal plans provide the use of one "block" during each
period to purchase the “meal deal” posted at each cash operation for that meal
period or in Beyer Dining Hall. “Meal Deal” hours (see “meal deal” hours below)
with in the cash operations have been expanded to accommodate your schedule and
for hours that the dining hall is closed. A “meal deal” is typically a main
entree, at least one side, and a beverage combined to represent a value greater
than if all the items were purchased a la carte. “Meal Deals” are an important
part of your program because they provide a well-balanced approach to eating
across each day. GU dollars are like extra cash that can be used at any dining
services location during any meal period. GU dollars are a part of each commuter
dining plan or can be purchased separate, and can be used to buy snacks,
beverages and meals that are not “meal deal” choices (and there aren’t many).
Meal Deal Example:
There are over 30 meals deal entrée
choices too choose from at Docs Landing, Knights Cove and Courtyard Cafe for
breakfast, lunch and dinner. Each meal deal includes choice of entrée, side dish
and beverage. Included in these are “HEALTHchecks” choices, our signature
healthy eating program. The following are examples of what are available.
Grill – Any sandwich made on our grill (chicken\beef cheesesteak
hoagies, fresh burgers, Smiths hot dogs, grilled chicken sandwich, chicken
fingers, breakfast sandwiches, eggs to order etc.) Sides include Fries; soup;
fresh fruit; fresh salad; bagel; donut; muffin or bag of chips. Beverages
include Milk, soda or coffee.
Up for Grabs –
any sandwich or specialty salad plus
side and drink listed above
Pizza –
Slice of pizza with side or drink listed above
Knights Cove Deli
– Any made to order sandwich, Wrap or
Salad with choice of soup, salad or chips and a beverage choice of milk, soda or
coffee.
Poblano’s –
Made to order Quesadilla, Burrito,
Taco Salad, Smothered Nachos, Tacos with side choices of Rice, Beans or tortilla
chips w\cheese or salsa and beverage choices of milk, soda or coffee.
How Do I Pick The Right Plan?
It is easy! All Plans are based on a
number of blocks (one meal within a meal period equals one block). It will be
important for you to calculate the number of meals that you plan on eating on
campus weekly then multiply that number by 15 weeks. Remember commuter meal
plans come with GU Gold that can support ala carte purchases or a meal in the
dining hall. Freshman are required to purchase either the 275 block plan (allows
for one meal per meal period throughout the semester)or the 225 block plan.
Upperclassmen and commuters have a variety of meal block plans too choose from.
Freshman Example:
if you plan on being away some weekends or do not eat many breakfast you would
calculate as follows: 3 breakfast + 6 lunches + 6 dinners = 15 weekly meals X 15
weeks = 225 block plan
Commuter Example:
5 lunches per week X 15 weeks = 75 Meals

**
The above board plans allow for the student to trade a board dinner (cash
equivalency) from the Beyer cafeteria for a designated retail meal at Doc’s
Landing and Knight’s Cove in the Waldron Center. This is attractive to the
student who has a class, club meeting or athletic practice that interferes with
the scheduled dinner hour. The best value for the dollar remains in the Beyer
eating area.
Upperclassmen/Commuters
The upperclassmen or
commuters can also purchase any of the meal plans that are listed above. They
can also purchase any of the following
150 meals/semester + $150 GU Gold
funds $1418/semester
75 meals/semester + $150 GU Gold
funds $784/semester
50 meals/semester + $150 GU Gold
funds $573/semester
25 meals/semester + $150 GU Gold

GU
Gold
GU Gold is a method of

serve food, the bookstore, as well as local merchants locally that subscribe to
the program (pizza, video rentals, etc.).
