University Committees

University committees are listed below.

Academic Affairs Committee

This committee shall maintain the high standards of education that Gannon has set forth since 1925. The committee will have regular monthly meetings with the Provost, and will be responsible for the formulation and interpretation of academic and related policies that affect the entire University.

Athletic Committee

This committee shall participate in the formulation of policies and decisions concerning the intercollegiate, intramural, athletic and recreational programs of the University. The primary activity of this committee will occur at the beginning of the first semester and the end of the second semester.

Bookstore Advisory Committee

This committee shall serve as an official university committee to review and recommend bookstore operating policies and procedures and to provide guidance to the bookstore and to the institution on related matters.

Budgeting and Planning Committee

This committee shall advise the President's council in matters regarding the planning and budgeting process of the University.

Food Services Committee

This committee shall work with the director of Student Living to improve the food services and food environment settings of Gannon.

Liberal Studies Committee

This committee shall advise the director of liberal studies and the implementation and operation of the liberal studies program and make recommendations to the Provost and the Vice President of Academic Affairs for SGA as well as the Board of Trustees regarding any changes to the liberal studies program.

Library and Research Committee

This committee shall advise the Nash library directors as to the desires of the students in matters of library media and research materials.

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration Committee

This committee shall work with the University to encourage student participation in any city, local, and university Martin Luther King Day celebrations. The goal is to encourage students to use this day to celebrate a great figure in the American civil rights struggle.

Mission and Identity Council

This committee shall work with the Vice President of Mission and Ministry to ensure that Gannon abides by its mission statement as a "student centered Catholic University." The committee shall also strive to procure appropriate ministry for the student body.

Outcomes and Assessment Committee

This committee shall advise and assist the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs in coordinating all outcomes assessment activities of the University and in measuring the effectiveness of the University in implementing its stated education objectives.

Preview GU Committee

This committee shall assist in the SOLD office and the planning and implementation of the Preview GU events for incoming freshmen. Furthermore, this committee is responsible for planning the annual graffiti party and Activities Fair.

Retention Committee

This committee shall assist in two different subcommittees of the university. One student shall serve on a subcommittee called the "advising subcommittee." It is the goal of this subcommittee to reconnect the relationship between students and their advisors. The second student shall serve on a new subcommittee called the "freshman seminar subcommittee." It is the goal of this subcommittee to assist the university in developing a new seminar for freshmen to ease them into their new college experience.

Service Learning Advisory Committee

This committee shall work to change the attitudes about/and encourage participation in service learning. The committee is a standing University committee made up of faculty, students, and members of the Erie community. The committee bylaws state, "the purpose of the committee is to create a campus culture of community engagement, to increase students' involvement and ownership of service-learning at both the graduate and undergraduate levels and to build stronger, sustainable community partnerships that bring together University and community resources to improve the region's economic, employment and general health."

Student Conduct Committee

This committee shall review the disciplinary process dealing with all the infractions except academic honesty to ensure the rights and freedom of students in accordance with the University policy on student conduct. Upon request by the director of S.L., it shall serve as an appeal board for review of individual incidents of policy infractions and respective sanctions imposed. Three student members must be present for these meetings.

Student Development Committee

This committee shall advise the dean of student development on matters pertaining to student life and welfare and issues suggested by the students, faculty, or administration personnel.

Teaching, Learning and Technology Round Table

This committee (TLTR) shall serve as an advisory group responsible for providing leadership and guidance with respect to faculty and student uses of academic technology.

Technology Advisory Committee

This committee (TAC) shall provide leadership and guidance on all institution-wide issues pertaining to computers and networks (including data, voice and video). The TAC will make recommendations to be considered by President's Staff or the Director, Information Technology Services, who could then be responsible for implementation.
