According to the U.S. Department of Labor, the Paralegal profession is one of the fastest growing occupations in the country. The 1990's witnessed the growth of Paralegal Professionals to a record number of 200,000 individuals. During the next ten years, the number of Paralegal positions is expected to double. Approximately one paralegal will be required for every six practicing attorneys.

Graduates of Gannon's Paralegal Program now work throughout the country. Many Gannon Paralegals are employed in Northeastern cities such as Erie, Pittsburgh, and Harrisburg in Pennsylvania as well as Cleveland, Ohio, and Buffalo, Rochester, and New York City in New York. Others work in the Carolinas and Florida. Employment opportunities and salaries vary widely. In large centers of corporate or government activity such as New York, Washington D.C., Philadelphia, or Los Angles, qualified Paralegals are in high demand and can earn as much as $40,000 to $100,000 a year. In smaller markets, Paralegals can expect to receive a starting salary of between $15,000 and $20,000 a year.

Paralegals provide professional services in a variety of legal, business, and corporate settings. Paralegals may be employed by law firms, government agencies, corporations, realtors, colleges and universities, utility companies, as well as hospitals and other healthcare organizations. There are also employment opportunities in the areas of insurance, media, human services, politics, banking, export, investments and philanthropy.
