Minors Available to International Business (IB) Students

(last modified 8/6/98)

Although not a program requirement, the International Business ( IB) student has the opportunity to obtain a minor in numerous other disciplines, including Foreign Language (FL), other business disciplines, as well as some recently developed minors, each of which is described below, followed by a description of the procedure for declaring a minor.

Business Minors

The IB student may obtain a minor in another business discipline, including the following:  Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Human Resource Management, Marketing, Microcomputer (PC) Applications, and Advertising / Communications.  The requirements for a minor in each of these other business disciplines are listed in the Gannon Undergraduate Catalog, on pp. 138-9 of the 1998-99 edition.  These business minors require between 15 and 18 credit hours of course work in the minor discipline, some of which are also a part of the Business Core; others could also be used to satisfy the free electives and/or international business electives components of the IB curriculum.  Thus, none of the business minors would necessitate course work beyond the 129 credit hours required for the IB degree.  It is understood that the same course can be used to satisfy both a minor requirement as well as a major requirement.

Other minors of interest

The IB major may also be interested in the following two new minors:

Procedure for declaring a minor

Students interested in a minor are advised to consult with their advisor prior to the advanced registration period for the Fall semester of their junior year.  If interested, they must then complete a "Declaration of Minor" form which must be signed by the minor director/chairperson and may be obtained in the office of the Dean, College of Humanities, Business and Education ( A. J. Palumbo Center 1202).
