International  Business Program Description

(last modified 8/7/98)

One of the most dramatic trends of the last 25 years has been the rapid growth in the volume of international business activities.  International business activity is predicted to continue to increase in the future. The US is on the cusp of a golden age of exports.  This increase in international business activity will create a growing need for properly trained individuals.   The Gannon International Business (IB) Program is intended to meet this need, whether the goal of the student is direct entry into the labor force upon graduation or going on to graduate school.

The Gannon IB program is a multiple disciplinary program as the curriculum consists of courses in the liberal studies, the functional areas of business, foreign languages, international business, and international, non business.  The flexibility of the curriculum provides the student with internship, cooperative education, study abroad, study tour, and regional/area studies opportunities, as well as the possibility to obtain a foreign language certificate of proficiency, minor, double major, a double major or minor in another business discipline, and a five year IB/MBA degree.  A special feature of the program is the International Business Internship Program.  In addition to several other student organizations for business students, there is an International Business Club.

The program makes use of available resources, particularly the location of the City of Erie within an area of international business activity and the Gannon University Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Internationnal Business Center.  The International Business (IB) program receives advice and guidance from an internal IB Faculty Committee and an external Advisory Council.
