  Personal Hardware & Software Purchases

Software Purchases

*MICROSOFT OFFICE USERS* Currently our computer labs are equipped with Microsoft Office 2003 as well as our faculty and staff computers. We do not provide students with any software with the exception of our Norton Antivirus tool. Students can download the antivirus tool directly from our website.

Gannon University is affiliated with the Association of Independent Colleges and Universities of Pennsylvania which entitles registered students to receive a discount on software. Journey Ed is a proud provider to AICUP schools and you can visit the Journey Ed website to learn more.

Computer Purchases

Gannon University faculty, staff, and students can receive discounts on their purchases from Dell.  To learn more please visit the Dell Purchases  page.

When purchasing a new computer or software, we suggest you check and compare prices from manufacturer's websites, your local electronics store or online promotions. Click on the links below to visit suggested manufacturers:

Dell        Hewlett Packard      Gateway        Sony        Compaq

Listed below are recommended configurations for the purchase of a new laptop or desktop.  Although not necessary, you may want to check with your program director to see if there are more specific requirements for your program of study. This is meant as a guide for students and parents and does not have to be followed exactly.

NOTE:  Radiological Science Majors have a specific required configuration for all laptops.  (The required configuration will be available soon.)

***Windows Vista Users: If you purchase or own a system with Windows Vista, we strongly recommend you have 1GB of memory (RAM) installed due to the fact that Windows Vista requires a large amount of memory itself to operate.  Less memory means the computer will run more slowly and make multitasking more difficult.
