What You'll Be Doing

If you are interested in exploring and deepening your faith while learning about the history of faith, Gannon’s theology program is the place for you. As a theology major, you will prepare yourself for continued education and a faith-based career.

The shortage of clergy is expected to increase through the new millennium. With a growing need in the Catholic Church, lay ministers with a theology degree will be in demand. Theology graduates can find a number of opportunities, including religious education at the elementary and secondary levels and as directors of religious education in parishes and youth ministry. A degree in theology also provides solid preparation for graduate school. Salaries for theology graduates range from $20,000 to $25,000; earnings can be considerably higher for those with a master’s degree.
