If you are interested in becoming a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (D.V.M.), qualified students have the opportunity to earn this degrees at Ross University through a partnership with Gannon University.

This agreement allows qualified students to earn a bachelor's degree from Gannon and a D.V.M. degree from Ross University in a total of seven years. Under the agreement, students complete three years of study at Gannon and then enroll in the Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine. After completing three semesters of coursework at Ross University, students are awarded a bachelor's degree in Health Science from Gannon.

 

Admission Requirements For
Incoming Gannon Students

  • Completion of four years of science courses and four years of math courses at the high school level
  • SAT total of 1150 (out of 1600 Math and Critical Reading) or higher, or ACT total of 25 or higher
  • GPA of 3.4 or higher on a 4.0 scale
  • Class rank in top 25 percent

Continuation Requirements at Ross University

Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine will guarantee admission to Gannon students who meet the criteria listed below:
  • Successfully complete three years of study at Gannon (at least 90 credit hours), including prerequisites for veterinary school.
  • GPA of 3.25 or higher in Gannon undergraduate courses. No grade lower than a C; no repeated courses.
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher in prerequisite courses required by Ross University. No grade lower than a C; no repeated courses.
  • A positive recommendation after an in-person interview and submission of two letters of recommendation.
  • Score in the 25th percentile or better in each category of the Graduate Record Examination (GRE).

Major Facts
  • Ross University’s School of Veterinary Medicine is located on the island of St. Kitts in the Caribbean. Students complete seven semesters of coursework on the island before engaging in one year of clinical training at one of 23 affiliated veterinary schools located in the United States.
  •  

  • Gannon University also has a traditional 4+4 partnership with Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine. Students interested in this option will apply after their junior year at Gannon and must fulfill the same requirements as stated in the continuation requirements to the left.
  •  

  • Ross operates on a trimester system -- January, May, and September and averages two weeks off between semesters. Because Ross does not break for summers, academically successful students are able to complete the program approximately 8 months earlier than many veterinary schools.

  • Up to 100 seats are available per enrollment semester.
  •  

  • Ross graduates are eligible to be licensed in all 50 states, Canada, and Puerto Rico.
  •  

  • "Hands on" surgery starts as early as the 5th semester.

  • The reputation of Ross University at 22 affiliated U.S. verterinary universities for semesters eight, nine, and ten is highly respected relative to students' performance, motivation, and quality of education.

  • Last year 87% of Ross students passed the boards on their first attempt.
