As a business administration major, you will develop the knowledge and skills corporations, government and nonprofit agencies seek, and you will learn about the many ways in which you can succeed as an entrepreneur in this highly competitive field. Graduates of business administration will gain flexibility and a sound foundation in the functional areas of business that will help them pursue their professional endeavors. Many business administration positions provide considerable responsibilities to people early on in their careers. In addition, the immense growth of entrepreneurial ventures in today’s economy offers business graduates the chance to be empowered small business owners. Other excellent career opportunities include property and real estate management, restaurant management, education administration, health service management, international business and marketing.
The Advanced Business Technology Certificate is a value added approach to business courses. Some business courses will offer the option of taking a one credit advanced business technology session, which integrates advanced instruction in the application of computer technology with the content of specific courses. Students completing a minimum of six one-credit advanced business technology courses during their studies at Gannon will earn this certificate. The certificate will serve as one source of evidence for students to confirm to potential employers that they have advanced knowledge, skills and abilities to use technology-based business applications to improve their job performance.
The Dahlkemper School of Business Administration at Gannon has received accreditation from the Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP), making Gannon the first business school in northwestern Pennsylvania with both undergraduate and graduate programs that are nationally accredited.
All Gannon business students have the opportunity to participate in many professional business organizations, including: the Gannon Accounting Club, Student Investment Trust, Alpha Kappa Psi Professional Business Fraternity, Gannon Student Advertising Club, Delta Mu Delta Honorary Business Fraternity and Marketing Club.
The Small Business Development Center on Gannon’s campus provides students with a unique opportunity to work on projects and assignments for area businesses through classes and internships.
• Gannon graduates are prepared to continue their education with a Master of Business Administration degree (MBA).
• Juniors may choose to pursue an accelerated MBA program and complete both their undergraduate and graduate degrees in just five years, rather than six.
• Senior students participate in an internship to acquire hands-on, real world experience.
• Academic and merit scholarships are available through the Business Excellence Awards.
• Throughout students’ academic experience at Gannon, they can participate in a variety of service learning opportunities.
•Transfer students with an associate’s degree in arts or science may be able to complete this major through Gannon’s Next–Step Program. Next–Step guarantees acceptance of up to 64 credits and allows students to enter Gannon with junior level status.
