Advocacy, Awareness, and Activism

Take Back the Night:
This annual rally against sexual assault and domestic violence, is held every spring in cooperation with the Gannon Counseling Center, SafeNet Domestic Violence Safety Network, the Erie County District Attorney's Office, and the Crime Victims Center.

Hunger and Homelessness Week:
This is an entire week devoted to raising awareness about hunger and homelessness issues at the local, state, national, and international level.  Traditional events include a Global Hunger Banquet, Oxfam Donate-a-Meal program, Box City and Fair Trade Coffee Night.

Social Concerns Club:
Members of this organization develop leadership skills and awareness of social justice issues.  The club has chosen to focus primarily on issues of poverty, homelessness, and global peace and justice.  Service projects, Hunger and Homelessness Week, and awareness events around Darfur and the Millennium Development Goals are just some of the opportunities available.  New members are always welcome.

In addition, the Center has worked with other campus and community groups for programs such as World Aids Day, March for Life, The Dead Man Walking Theatre Project, and the Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebration.
