Impact Retreat

The Campus Ministry team offers a full range of retreats throughout the academic year. If you would like to be involved in retreat planning or are interested in participating in a retreat, contact Campus Ministry in person or by phone (814-871-7435). There are brochures in the University Chaplain's Office with details regarding each retreat. There is normally a minimal cost for each retreat which covers transportation, food, lodging and supplies; however, Campus Ministry can help you meet the cost of the retreat if you are unable to do so and would like to participate.

 Fall Freshmen and Leadership Retreat

October 2-3

 

Gannon students plan and lead this weekend retreat. It is a great way to get away from the pressures of campus life, studies and work. Times are set aside for prayer, reflection, recreation, discussions, community building and personal development.

             

 Busy Person's Retreat    

October 25-29 and March 14-18    

 

A retreat especially designed for busy people. Retreatants spend 1/2 hour with a retreat director and 1/2 hour reflecting on scripture and prayer each day during the retreat. An opening and closing session are also held for retreatants and retreat directors.

  

Dinner and Discussion with the Bishop

November 9

 

Students from around the diocese are invited to share a meal with Bishop Donald Trautman and to have a discussion with him on a variety of topics.

 

Advent Reconciliation Service

December 1

 

 

Reserved for juniors and seniors, the silent directed retreat offers the retreatant an opportunity to more fully discern the will of God in his/her life. The retreatant will meet with a spiritual director each day after completing scripture readings and meditations. Morning and evening prayer, as well as the liturgy is communally celebrated each day.

 

  

Intercollegiate Gathering

January 30

 

A gathering of students from the universities and colleges within the Diocese of Erie for a day of faith, fellowship, and fun. Participating colleges include: Gannon, Mercyhurst, Penn State Behrend, Edinboro, Thiel, Allegheny, Clarion, Grove City, Pitt-Bradford, and Mercyhurst North East.

 

                 

 

 

Jubiee

Feb 19-21

 

A conference designed to help college students integrate their faith into all areas of their lives.  This conference is held in Pittsburgh, Pa.

 

National Catholic Colleges Week

Feb 21-25

Sunday: 11am Mass and RCIA Rite of Sending with a reception after mass. 9pm Mass with a reception after mass.

Monday: Sharing the Journey. A presentation on faith development and personal spiritual journey at Gannon. Yehl ballroom, 7:30-8:45pm.

Tuesday: Faith Field Days. Friendly compeition between the 6 faith sharing groups on campus and all students interested. Yehl Ballroom, 5:00-6:30pm.

Wednesday: Gannon vs. Mercyhurst basketball games, Hammermill Center.

Thursday: Community Mass celebrating Gannon's Catholic Identity. Mary Seat of Wisdom Chapel, 11am. Complimentary lunch to follow.

 

30 Hour Fast

April 9-10

 

A thirty-hour fast designed to raise money so that children in third world countries can eat. Every three seconds a child dies of a hunger-related disease. Say no to hunger by becoming part of the solution. Get involved in 30 Hour Fast.

                    

 

Theology on Tap

Theology on Tap is a gathering of students that participate in discussions about current events, theology, and issues facing college students.  This event takes place at local bars, taverns and restaurants.  Appetizers are provided and students buy their own beverages.

 

 

 Kentucky Service Trip

May 9-15

 

The Kentucky Service Trip is an annual summer mission trip to the Glenmary Farm in Vanceburg, KY.

Lewis County, Kentucky is one of the poorest areas in our country. Students provide direct service to the local community through a variety of agencies. Some proojects include: housing construction through Self-Help Housing, visiting local residents at an adult rehabilitation facility, and playing games and singing songs for residents at nursing homes.

During the trip, there are also many cultural events to attend. Students participate in a service at a Pentecostal church, meet with local residents, and enjoy a country music band.   

                   

Special retreats are also available for sororities, fraternities, athletic teams, faculty & staff, and special interest groups. Please contact Campus Ministry (814) 871-7435.
