Accufind
A web search engine that acts as a conduit to other Internet search tools. These tools are searched one at a time. Accufind also provides a list of 11 general subjects to help focus the search.

Alta Vista
A web search engine that searches a pool of over 140 million web pages. It contains many advanced features that help narrow the results down to a manageable number.

Dogpile
Metasearch database; relevancy ranking based on search engines listed in results.

Excite
A web search engine covering over 50 million pages. It not only searches the keyword, but also related concepts. It also will suggest search terms.

Google
A web search engine that is simple to operate. Just type the term and click on the "Google Search" button. The only other option is to click on the "I'm Feeling Lucky" button which finds the best match. Google uses a complex mathematical formula to produce its search results.

Scholar Google
Google's answer to information literacy on the web.

A web search engine that indexes every word on more than 110 million web pages.

Infohiway
A web search engine with a few unique features such as search jumper and original web guides and other resource directories.

Infoseek
A web search engine that ranks results for relevancy. It also offers a button labeled "similar pages" that will bring up additional pages on the topic.

Lycos
A web search engine with great advanced searching features including access to their "Top 5%" rated sites. They also present an explanation of the rating system in the help section.

Northern Light
A web search engine that categorizes results into subheadings.

Searches 804 deep net engines.

Webcrawler
A web search engine that evaluates the web sites in its database for popularity. It displays results in a simple manner without a lot of detail.

The Yellow Pages
A web search engine of businesses aimed at consumers. It strives to be an online version of the print yellow pages with multiple access points.
