GU Gold Card – Debit Function Policy
  • General Information
The GU Gold Card is your identification card for Gannon events, services, and building access. The GU Gold Card also functions as a debit card and allows purchases at various on and off-campus locations. For information regarding card security, use and ownership, lost or stolen cards, and Term and Privacy policies, refer to the ID Security Policy or the GU Gold website at www.gannon.edu/gugold.

  • Debit Function
The debit card function is activated when money is deposited into your GU Gold Card account through the Cashier's Office. Deposits can be made throughout the year. Cash, check and credit cards are accepted forms of payment. (There is a $10 minimum deposit with a credit card.)

In addition to making a payment, there are several other methods of placing funds on a GU Gold Card. Students who have a credit balance on their tuition account can request a transfer of funds to their GU Gold Card. Also, the GU Gold portion of a student meal plan is deposited to the card. Employees may use payroll deduction for deposit into their GU Gold Card account.

GU Gold funds are available for purchases only. Cash withdrawals and paying tuition balances from this account are not permitted. Funds remain on the card as long as the student/employee remains at the university from one semester to the next.

  • Refund Requests
A refund of GU Gold funds can only be requested at the time a student graduates or formally withdraws from the University. A Refund Request form must be submitted to the Cashier's Office. Valid requests will be processed after the graduation or withdrawal date. All University debts must be satisfied prior to a refund being processed.

Employees can request a refund upon departure from the University.

GU Gold card accounts with no activity during a twelve-month period are considered inactive. Inactive accounts with balances of less than $20.00 will be closed and the remaining balance forfeited.

  • Locations
The GU Gold Card can be used at various locations on–campus including the Gannon Bookstore, all food locations, the Campus Police and Safety Office (for ID’s or parking fees/fines), the Mailroom, the Health Center, and various vending and copy machine locations that have been equipped with card readers.

Over 30 off-campus merchants participate in the program. The GU Gold website lists all current locations. www.gannon.edu/gugold

  • Error Resolution Procedure
Gannon recommends all cardholders monitor their transactions on a regular basis. Your GU Gold Card account can be reviewed on the GU Gold website under “Manage My Account”. A printed copy of transactions can also be requested from the Cashier’s Office.

Any billing disputes should be addressed directly with the merchant. If the cardholder believes the merchant has overcharged their account, they should present a copy of their transaction statement to the merchant and request an adjustment.

Suspected fraudulent/unauthorized charges to a GU Gold Card account will be addressed by the Campus Police and Safety Office. The cardholder will need to provide all relevant information including name and ID number, date of transaction, location, amount of the unauthorized charge, and any other information deemed necessary to help the staff investigate the claim.

  • Usage
Gannon University is not responsible for the refusal to accept or honor your GU Gold Card by any of the participating establishments under, but not limited to, the following circumstances:

    • Your GU Gold Card has been reported lost.

The University is not responsible for any loss, inconvenience or embarrassment to you or to others arising as a result of lack of funds in your account.
