Throughout the course the student will:
- Develop the ability to "think through" the Bible, identifying major events and themes as depicted within the literary tradition.
- Apply a variety of methodologies used in the examination of the biblical text.
- Be introduced to the history and culture of the communities which gave rise to the biblical text.
- Evaluate the kind of influence which the biblical tradition has had in western society.
- Understand how faith is an essential part of human existence.
- Be able to conduct biblical research.
- Experience the process of biblical studies through the electronic information network.
- Interact with specific human values as presented in the biblical text.
These outcomes will be assessed through:
- Quizzes and exams designed to measure the course content mastered by the student.
- Electronic discussion list.
