Syllabus: Outcomes:
 

Throughout the course the student will:

  • Develop the ability to "think through" the Bible, identifying major events and themes as depicted within the literary tradition.
  • Apply a variety of methodologies used in the examination of the biblical text.
  • Be introduced to the history and culture of the communities which gave rise to the biblical text.
  • Evaluate the kind of influence which the biblical tradition has had in western society.
  • Understand how faith is an essential part of human existence.
  • Be able to conduct biblical research.
  • Experience the process of biblical studies through the electronic information network.
  • Interact with specific human values as presented in the biblical text.

These outcomes will be assessed through:

  • Quizzes and exams designed to measure the course content mastered by the student.
  • Electronic discussion list.
  • Unit Essays
