NATIONAL CITY MAKES $30,000 GIFT TO COMPREHENSIVE CAMPAIGN

National City Bank has donated $30,000 to The Power To Transform Campaign at Gannon University.  On Tuesday, December 5, 2006, Jim Gehrlein, Area President, National City Bank, presented Gannon University President, Antoine M. Garibaldi, Ph.D., with the $30,000 check in the University’s Old Main building on West Sixth Street.

National City’s gift will help fund renovations to the thirty-year-old Zurn Science Center, located in the center of Gannon’s Campus on West 7th Street.  Extensive enhancements will transform Zurn Science Center into a state-of-the-art facility to support Gannon’s science and engineering programs. Planned renovations to Zurn include creating more interior space for research and educational programming and adding eight new laboratories.  The renovation of Zurn Science Center and The Power To Transform Campaign represent an ongoing investment to: attract and retain high quality Gannon faculty and students; to enhance a facility that will help advance learning and research; and to strengthen Gannon’s roles in the scientific and engineering communities.

“We are grateful for National City’s generous gift to The Power To Transform Campaign and value our strong community relationship with Mr. Jim Gehrlein, a 1972 Gannon Alumnus, and National City Bank,” said President Garibaldi.  “National City strives to fulfill its mission to enhance the quality of life and make a difference in the Erie community through these types of donations. We are pleased to be a part of the region that Gannon University serves so well,” said Jim Gehrlein.

Gannon University launched the public phase of The Power To Transform Campaign on May 11, 2006. To date, the University has raised $17,620,553 or 59 percent, of the $30 million Campaign goal. If you would like more information about how individuals, corporations, businesses, and organizations can contribute to the Zurn Science Center renovation, and other ways to support The Power To Transform Campaign, please contact Britt Daehnke, Campaign Coordinator, at (814) 871-7261 or via email at daehnke001@gannon.edu.
