GARIBALDI TO SERVE ON NACUBO BOARD; NAMED KNIGHT OF ST. GREGORY

Gannon University President Antoine M. Garibaldi, Ph.D., has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the National Association of College and University Business Officers (NACUBO).

Garibaldi will serve an initial three-year term and also will sit on the board’s external relations committee.

He recently participated in his first board meetings earlier this month. “Your work on the board and on the committee will help sustain and enhance NACUBO’s record of service to individual business officers and other administrators, to colleges and universities across the country, and to higher education as a whole,” said Morgan R. Olsen, chair of the organization’s board.

The National Association of College and University Business Officers’ vision is to define excellence in higher education business and financial management and seeks to achieve its numerous goals, including the national promotion of sound management and financial administration in higher education, through a collaboration of knowledge and professional development, advocacy, and community.

Established in 1962 and located in Washington, D.C., NACUBO serves a membership of more than 2,200 colleges, universities, and higher education service providers nationally. The organization represents two-thirds of the higher education institutions in the United States.

Garibaldi also will be named a Knight of St. Gregory the Great.

Papal honors are conferred in recognition of one’s service to the Church, unusual labors, and support of the Holy See, among other factors. They are bestowed by Pope Benedict XVI.

Garibaldi will be honored at a ceremony, presided over by Cardinal Justin Rigali, at St. Peter Cathedral tonight, Nov. 20. During the ceremony, Garibaldi’s wife, Carol, will be honored as a Lady of St. Gregory the Great.

Erie Bishop Donald W. Trautman said, “You exemplify the best of who we are and what we do as members of the Lord’s flock here in the Diocese of Erie.”

Editor’s note: The Garibaldis were pictured in an article on local residents receiving papal honors. The article ran on page 1 of the Faith section in the Saturday, November 18 edition of the Erie Times-News.
