BRUSHING UP ON SERVICE

Melissa L. Peterson (above), assistant professor, nursing department, was one of the Gannon University faculty who participated in last week’s 2009 Summer Service-Learning Institute, sponsored by the Office of Service-Learning. The goal of the week-long program was to help faculty more thoroughly and effectively incorporate service into their academic coursework and classroom teaching. As part of the Institute, the participants, including Peterson, painted over graffiti in downtown Erie so as to help the City of Erie’s Graffiti Task Force, of which Maria L. Garase, assistant professor, criminal justice program, is a member.
