STATE SEN. EARLL TO
LECTURE ON CAMPUS FOR WOMEN'S HISTORY MONTH
Pennsylvania State Sen. Jane M. Earll will address Gannon’s senior staff
and members of the Women’s Leadership Group during a luncheon to
commemorate Women’s History month.
The luncheon will be held at 12 p.m. Friday, March 23 in the boardroom of
the University’s Old Main building, corner of Peach and West Sixth
streets.
The Women’s Leadership Group, which is dedicated to advancing women’s
leadership at Gannon and beyond by developing opportunities for
professional development, networking and service, is sponsoring the
luncheon and presentation.
The luncheon will begin at noon and the Senator will speak at 12:30 p.m.
for about 15-20 minutes, followed by a question and answer session.
Senator Earll will focus on women, leadership and politics including past
and pending legislation that focuses on and promotes women’s issues. The
Senator’s remarks will reflect this year’s national theme for Women’s
History month, which is a “Generation of Women Moving History Forward.”
Earll was
first elected to the Pennsylvania State Senate in 1996, and then again in
2000 and 2004, to represent the 49th Senatorial District, which
includes the City of Erie and most other municipalities within Erie
County. In 2002, in addition to serving the constituents of the 49th
District, Senator Earll was the Republican Nominee for Lt. Governor.
Prior to her
election to public office, Earll established herself as a respected legal
professional. She practiced law for over 12 years in both the public and
private sectors, including almost seven years as an Assistant District
Attorney. Senator Earll is the Chairwoman of the Community, Economic and
Recreational Development Committee, Vice Chair of the Finance Committee,
and also serves on the Judiciary, Rules and Executive Nominations,
Transportation, and Urban Affairs and Housing Committees. Senator Earll is
a lifelong resident of Erie County.
