HEARD ON CAMPUS

  • Important note to faculty members, from provost and vice president for academic affairs Keith Taylor, Ph.D.: the review and revision of the Liberal Studies Core is an opportunity to work together toward excellence as a University and across all academic programs. The importance of the Liberal Studies Core certainly contributes to the passion in the current discussion. We need to continue with open and professional dialogue to clarify and articulate where we have been, how we have gotten to where we are, and, most importantly, what we need to do to get to where we want to be: an excellent University with an excellent Liberal Studies Core curriculum. A full faculty meeting will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, March 9 in room 101 of Zurn Science Center.

  • Be sure to check out the Gannon Student/Faculty Art Show, on display now through Thursday, March 16 in the Schuster Gallery. Schuster Gallery is located on the third floor of the library and is open during regular library hours. For information call ext. 5467.

  • The Gannon Community is invited to attend a group presentation of the Professional Portfolios of the advanced students in the Community Counseling Program. Students enrolled in the GPSY690 Seminar in Counseling will present their Professional Counseling Portfolios, which demonstrate their competencies and development. The presentation is scheduled for 6-8 p.m. Wednesday April 5, in room 2224 of the Palumbo Center. Students, faculty, staff, and administrators are invited to see the competencies and training outcomes of the Community Counseling Program as evidenced in the students’ professional portfolios. This is also a great opportunity for the Gannon Community to show its support and learn more about the competencies of the students.

  • Nash Library is sponsoring a 2006 Oscar Contest. Students, faculty, and staff can pick up a ballot at the library’s Circulation Desk or by downloading one from the library’s web site (www.gannon.edu/library). The Oscar Display in the library’s lobby has information on the movies, actors, actresses, film technicians, etc. The contest ends Friday, March 3 at 12 p.m. Ballots must be submitted via e-mail or to the Circulation Desk by 12 p.m. March 3 in order to be eligible. The entry with the most correct answers will be the winner. Tie-breaker questions will be asked if necessary. The winner will receive a movie-related prize.
