Policy on Reporting Criminal Incidences

The Gannon University Office of Campus Police and Safety will investigate all criminal incidents occurring on Campus. Some of these investigations, including any crimes that may constitute a felony, may be referred to the City of Erie Bureau of Police for further investigation and prosecution. Crime statistics are complied and reported to the Pennsylvania State Police as required by law.

Students and employees of Gannon are encouraged to report any suspected criminal activity or crimes. Criminal incidents or emergencies should be reported directly to the Office of Campus Police and Safety by using any telephone located throughout the campus. For true emergencies which require direct and immediate response to serious crimes, personal injury, or life threatening situations, the University is equipped with an enhanced 911 system. A direct connection with the Campus Operator and the Office of Campus Police and Safety is established by calling 911. The University Operator will dispatch a Campus Police or Security officer via radio. The operator will also forward the emergency call to the Erie County 911 system if the call is a fire, medical, or police emergency. All off-campus students or those not within the campus telephone system should use the County of Erie’s enhanced 911 system. All other non-emergency incidents should be reported to the Police and Safety Office by either calling Extension 7690 or by stopping at the the Office at 117 West 7th Street, across from the Waldron Center. Off-campus non-emergency incidents should be reported to the City of Erie Bureau of Police at 870-1125.
