The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania has enacted a law entitled the College and University Security Information Act and the Federal Government has enacted a companion law commonly known as the Jeanne Clery Act. These laws require each college and university in Pennsylvania to compile information regarding campus crime, as well as campus security policies and programs, and to make this information available to the public. Universities and colleges must report crime statistics in accordance with the Uniform Crime Report and make the information available to those who request it. Additionally, the Clery act requires all U.S. colleges and universities to report crimes committed in areas around campus. Prospective students and their families must be made aware that this information is available, and University security policies and practices must be published and given to all students and employees.
