Physical Plant personnel and insurance representatives conduct inspections of all campus facilities regularly. Landscaping, outdoor lighting and grounds keeping are monitored regularly by Physical Plant, Police and Safety personnel, and Student Living Staff. Students and Staff are encouraged to report any deficiencies to their Resident Directors, the Office of Police and Safety or Campus Services.
security in university housing
All entrance doors to campus residence halls and University housing units are locked at all times. Keys are issued to resident students at the beginning of the academic year. If a key is lost or stolen, it must be reported immediately to the Student Living Office. Consequently, unauthorized possession of any University key is considered to be an extremely serious offense and is subject to suspension or expulsion from the University. The Office of Campus Police and Safety use security cameras located throughout the campus to monitor activity. While the specific type of hardware varies from building to building, each room is equipped with a door lock. All first floor windows have inhibitors and or latches.

Sixteen (16) undergraduate Resident Advisors (RA's) are assigned to the residence halls.
Also assigned are six (6) live in Assistant Resident Directors (ARD's) who are
graduate students at the University and six (6) live in professional Resident
Directors (RD's). Chaplains from Campus Ministry are also assigned to residence halls and are available to students. These staff members monitor the environment and activity within each building. Every
ARD, RA, and RD undergoes an extensive training program prior to his or her assignment. The freshman residence halls also have security personnel who monitor the lobby area from 11:00 P.M. to 7:00 A.M. Security and Police Officers conduct routine patrols on Campus and in adjacent areas.
