Program Coordinator/Resident Campus Minister

Dean of the College of Engineering and Business

Gannon University, a Catholic, Master’s I comprehensive university seeks innovative, highly qualified and experienced candidates for the position of Dean of the College of Engineering and Business.  The Dean reports directly to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs and will lead this newly formed college as part of the University’s exciting growth and expansion to a three college organizational structure.  This is a unique opportunity to lead the development of a vision for the College taking advantage of the notable strengths of the academic programs within the Schools of Engineering and Computer Science and the Dalhkemper School of Business as well as synergies with Gannon’s Small Business Development Center and Erie Technology Incubator. The College includes undergraduate and graduate programs in electrical, environmental and mechanical engineering, environmental science, engineering management and computer and information sciences as well as a full spectrum of undergraduate degrees in business and master’s degrees in business administration and public administration; with 37 full-time faculty serving approximately 900 students. The Dean of the College of Engineering and Business is an integral part of the University’s administrative team. The Dean will work closely with the Dean of the College of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences, the Dean of the Morosky College of Health Professions and Sciences and the Dean of Graduate Studies to continue to increase domestic and international student enrollments and champion creative efforts in consonance with the University’s new strategic plan.

The successful candidate will be an exceptional teacher and scholar with significant experience in academic program development, management, assessment, and budget management; faculty mentoring and professional development; and program marketing and community relations.  This position requires the experience and ability to build effective working relationships with state, regional, and specialized accrediting agencies across both the disciplines of engineering, including computer and information sciences, and business. A keen understanding of the culture of higher education, strong interpersonal and organizational skills, and the ability to create a productive, collaborative work environment are also essential.

The ideal candidate should support and promote the University’s mission, its Catholic identity, a culture of assessment and the Teacher-Scholar model, as well as the comprehensive integration of the University’s liberal arts and professional education programs.

  • A doctoral degree relevant to a program within the college and a minimum of eight years of distinguished experience as a university faculty member with credentials commensurate with senior faculty status (tenured, associate professor), and a minimum of four years of progressive experience in academic administration (preferably in the role of a department chair, or a higher level, in a university context).

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in developing, managing, and marketing high quality undergraduate and graduate programs; preferably with experience in international educational programs and partnerships.

  • Experience in effective recruitment, retention, growth, and development of qualified faculty; with a desire to strengthen and diversify the University faculty.

  • Ability to use technology, research and analysis, higher education administrative best practices, and the cumulative experience of the faculty and other administrative officers in conducting long-range planning and developing successful educational initiatives.

  • A practical understanding of faculty development, the Teacher-Scholar model, and extramural funding.

  • Demonstrated ability to build programs with the goal of creating synergy between the schools within the newly formed college as well as with economic development agencies on campus and in the local community.

Assistant Football Coach

Junior Systems Administrator

Gannon University, a Catholic institution, invites applications for a Junior Systems Administrator for the Information Technology Services Department.  Responsibilities include:  installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and integration of server and network equipment, to include servers, printers, switches, routers, firewalls, and tape units. Installs and configures server operating systems software, network client applications and print drivers. Monitors, reports on, and analyzes server and network data using system management tools, utilities, and applications. Assists in the design and development of server and network hardware, software, and system applications to replace or expand the IT infrastructure. Handles campus server and network problems and will communicate with IT vendors and technical support staff as needed.  

Requirements include: One or more years’ experience working with production data networks, to include switches, routers, firewalls, Windows domain, Active directory, Exchange, and IIS; working knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, 802.11 technologies, Windows XP, 2000, 2003, Vista and Solaris; experience installing and supporting client, server, and web applications in a networked environment; excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills; experience with network and server management and analysis tools (hardware and software) is highly desirable; Nortel telecom experience a plus; exceptional interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills; enthusiasm and dedication to a service-oriented environment; ability to work independently and as a member of a team; on-call rotation for off hours and weekends is required.  Must be able to support the University’s mission.

Director of Public Relations and Communications and Special Assistant to the President

Gannon University, a Catholic university, invites applications for the position of Head Softball Coach.  Gannon’s athletic program participates in 18 intercollegiate sports at the NCAA Division II level in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC).  Gannon has recorded 19 consecutive winning softball seasons, including the 2007 GLIAC Softball Championship, and has qualified for the NCAA Tournament three times since the 2005 season.  The successful candidate for this full-time, 10-month position, which includes benefits, will be responsible for the organization, supervision, and management of the softball team and will be expected to perform supervisory duties in the university’s intramural and recreation programs.    

Requirements include a bachelor’s degree, previous coaching experience (college level preferred), knowledge of NCAA rules, and a valid driver’s license.  Credentials should reflect proven success in recruiting, staff management, and promotion of student athletes in their academic and athletic experience.  Must be able to promote and support the mission of the University.
