Welcome to the Office of Commuter Life

The Office of Commuter Life provides a "home away from home" for commuter students with four lounges, lockers, a microwave, refrigerator and coffee pot for your use.  The lounges are a place to meet fellow commuters, receive guidance and information from the Commuter Advisors, and learn about opportunities for involvement and leadership on campus.  Programming focuses around the LIFECORE dimensions and allows students to grow and become more connected to Gannon.  The Office of Commuter Life also coordinates the Returning to Education Adult Program (REAP) which offers specialized programming and a lounge for undergraduate adult learners.

Commuter Lounges ~ Palumbo Academic Center

Room 2202  Commuter Corner ~ a casual place to hang-out, study and meet other commuters.  There is a microwave, coffee pot and refrigerator for your use.

Room 2003  Group Study lounge ~ specifically targetted for freshmen the first month of the fall semester.  A place to study, socialize and get to know your fellow commuters.

Room 2004  Computer Lounge and Group Study lounge ~ generally a quieter room where studying occurs.  There is one computer there for your use.

Room 3241 Returning to Education Adult Program (REAP) lounge ~ designated for non-traditional students (25 years and older).  This spacious lounge offers couches, a table, coffee pot, refrigerator and microwave.  A great place to meet other adult students and offer support to each other!  For more information about adult learner students, visit

Commuter Advisors                                                                            The Commuter Advisors (C.A.) are appointed positions who provide support and leadership to their peers. The Commuter Advisors give assistance to traditional and non-traditional students, help plan programs, maintain the commuter webpage, advertise upcoming events, attend Open House, and develop monthly newsletters. The C.A.s get information out to students, get them involved in various activities, and keep them informed about Commuter Life and campus events.

Parking                                                                                                                                                                      Gannon University offers discounted parking spaces in three Erie Parking Authority ramps (the two adjacent to the Palumbo Academic Center and the one directly across from it). The fee is $129 each semester plus a $5.00 deposit for the pass card (which you get back when you return the card).   A lottery is held in early August for all full-time undergraduate commuters who request a spot.  Other options include the Erie Metropolitan Transit Authority's Park n' Ride program (park free at the Bayfront highway and Liberty Park lots and take the free shuttle up State Street), meter or street parking available within walking distance of campus, or various privately owned lots surrounding campus.

Lockers                                                                                                                                                                       Lockers are available in the Palumbo Academic Center free of charge.  Stop by the Commuter Corner (PC2202) to see a C.A. and  fill out a card to sign out a locker for the academic year.  You must supply your own lock.

LIFECORE                                                                                                                                                                         The LIFECORE program addresses nine dimensions of a person's life such as intellectual, political, spiritual, and social to name a few.  Each semester students have the opportunity to complete a LIFECORE wheel, noting the activities done in each dimension.  By participating in and completing a wheel, students receive credit on their co-curricular transcript and (hopefully) become a more well-rounded person.  Activities/programs are offered by Commuter Life as well as on campus and in the community to help complete the wheels.
