GANNON TO HOST ANNUAL FALL OPEN HOUSE SUNDAY, NOV. 6

Gannon University will host its annual Open House Sunday, Nov. 6.

Numerous events and activities are planned for visiting students and their families.

Scholarship Contests for prospective students will be offered at 9 a.m. in English, education, engineering, chemistry, biology, and foreign language. The contest in education, the Future Educators Award, is new to this year’s Open House.

Also new to the Open House is “On-Site Admissions,” which will allow up to 45 students to know, during the Open House, if they have been accepted to Gannon. Advance registration is required for On-Site Admissions appointments.

From 1-4 p.m., Office of Admissions staff will meet with students individually to review their applications and transcripts. In order to be eligible to participate in the interviews, students must have scored at least 1,000 on the SAT (math and critical reading) or 21 on the ACT and have a 3.0 grade point average.

Other activities include an optional mass to be held at 11 a.m. in the university’s Mary, Seat of Wisdom Chapel, 512 Peach Street.

Registration will begin at 11:30 a.m. in the lobby of the Waldron Campus Center, 124 West Seventh Street. A student and community services fair will be held in Hammermill Center, Peach Street and South Park Row, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Gannon University President Antoine M. Garibaldi, Ph.D., will give welcoming remarks at 12:30 p.m.

In addition, students and their families can meet with faculty members and athletic coaches and take tours of the campus and downtown Erie. A number of informational presentations are scheduled, including sessions on admissions and financial aid and academic presentations on the humanities, business, physical therapy, LECOM 4+4 program, physician assistant, computer and information science, pre-pharmacy, occupational therapy, and pre-med and related pre-professional programs.

  • Gannon University and the Schuster Program for the Arts announce a special Gannon Night at the Erie Playhouse. On Thursday, Nov. 3 at 7:30 p.m. the Playhouse will put on a special Gannon performance of the musical The Fantasticks. The Fantasticks is the longest-running musical in the world, and with good reason: at the heart of its breathtaking poetry and subtle theatrical sophistication is a purity and simplicity that transcends cultural barriers. The result is a timeless fable of love that manages to be nostalgic and universal at the same time. Tickets are free to all Gannon faculty, staff, and students and are available at the Waldron Center front desk. Please plan on joining us for this special evening. Refreshments will be provided at a 6:45 p.m. reception in the Playhouse lobby. For more information, contact Anita Snider at ext. 5467 or snider001@gannon.edu.
