LECTURE SERIES ON EUCHARIST CONTINUES WITH ST. BONAVENTURE PRESIDENT Sister Margaret Carney, O.S.F., S.T.D., president of St. Bonaventure University, will be at Gannon for a Sept. 20 guest lecture. The lecture, part II of Gannon’s 2005 Lecture Series on the Eucharist, will be held at 7:30 p.m. in the Yehl Room of the Waldron Campus Center, 124 West Seventh Street. It is free and open to the public. During her lecture, “Jesus Christ and the Fast Food Nation,” Carney will examine the Eucharist in light of research on the meaning of food and table fellowship in the New Testament. She also will discuss the meaning of food and our current styles of food consumption, and the way in which this opens and closes paths to understanding for us. In addition, Carney will explore the current shortage of ordained priests and the potential impact in the future. Father Scott Detisch, Ph.D., a faculty member at Christ the King Seminary in East Aurora, N.Y., on Oct. 4 will give the final lecture in the series. For more information on the lecture series, call ext. 5873.
