GANNON TO HOST DISCUSSION ON 'DA VINCI CODE' FOR LIBRARY WEEK

Gannon University on Tuesday, April 4 will host a panel discussion on the wildly popular and controversial book The Da Vinci Code.

The discussion, titled “The Da Vinci Code: Myths, Truths, and the Media,” will be held from 7-8:30 p.m. in room 104 of Gannon’s Zurn Science Center. The event is free and open to the public.

The Da Vinci Code, written by Dan Brown and published in March of 2003, reached #1 on The New York Times bestseller list. The web site amazon.com called the book, “an intelligent and lucid thriller that marries the gusto of an international murder mystery with a collection of fascinating esoteria culled from 2,000 years of Western history.”

A movie based on Brown’s book will be released worldwide in late May.

The panel will be comprised of Rev. Michael Kesicki, instructor, theology department at Gannon; A.J. Miceli, assistant professor and chairperson, communication arts program at Gannon; John Vanco, director of the Erie Art Museum; and John Young, associate professor, English department at Gannon.

The panelists will discuss how much of the book is fact or fiction, among other topics. They also will take questions from the audience.

The event is sponsored by Gannon University’s Nash Library as part of National Library Week (April 2-8).
