ST. PAT'S DAY EVENT, GET REC'D, COULD DRAW MORE THAN 350 STUDENTS

Organizers are expecting more than 350 students to attend Get Rec’d, Gannon University’s annual alternative St. Patrick’s Day celebration.

The free event is designed to offer students a fun, alcohol-free environment on St. Patrick’s Day, which historically has been associated with parties and other events where drinking is prevalent.

During Get Rec’d, students will be able to play games, including bingo, Texas Hold ‘Em, and basketball. Refreshments and music will be provided. The university’s radio station, WERG, Energy FM-90, will broadcast live from the Carneval Athletic Pavilion.

Numerous prizes for students will be raffled off, including an Apple iPod, clothing, gift certificates, and Erie Otters’ tickets. One lucky student also will be awarded the first position in the university’s housing lottery, allowing them to have their first choice of on-campus housing.

Following Get Rec’d, students can attend a green pancake breakfast from 11 p.m. to 1 a.m. in the Student Service Center, 111 West Fifth Street.

Among the Gannon organizations either participating in or sponsoring the event are the Student Government Association, Activities Programming Board, KnightLife, and PROMISE.
