GANNON UNIVERSITY
STAFF NEWS
Alexander G. Wojtalik, the university's director of purchasing and
materials, in January was approved for the designation of certified
purchasing manager (C.P.M.).
In order to earn the C.P.M.
designation, Wojtalik was required to pass four examinations. Over the
course of 12 months, he completed 120 hours of classroom instruction in
the Purchasing Manager Certificate program.
According to the Institute
for Supply Management, formerly the National Association of Purchasing
Management, individuals who earn the C.P.M. certification “are an
important part of the skilled management team necessary to meet the
challenges in today’s competitive global environment.”
In June of 2003, Wojtalik
earned the designation of Accredited Purchasing Practitioner (A.P.P.).
He graduated from Youngstown
State University (Ohio) with a bachelor’s degree in business
administration, including a concentration in industrial management. He
earned a master’s of business administration degree from Gannon
University.
Wojtalik held several

specialist for the Direct Current Motor and Generator Department;
production control specialist and various manufacturing supervisory
positions for GE Drive Systems; purchasing buyer for Drive Systems;
contracting agent for the Transportation Systems Business Department; and
