GANNON TO HOST 120+ PROSPECTIVE STUDENTS THROUGH KNIGHT WITH SCHOLARS

Gannon will welcome to campus more than 120 high school seniors through the university’s annual Knight with Scholars program.

The Knight with Scholars program, administered by the Office of Admissions, is designed specifically for high school seniors who have been accepted to Gannon University for the fall 2006 semester and who have been selected for a Gannon University academic or leadership scholarship.

During their visit, scheduled for Feb. 19-20, the students will get a taste of college life by participating in academic lectures with Gannon students and faculty and attending “Gannon at a Glance,” a series of informational sessions on campus services and resources. Campus Ministry, the Gannon University Honors Program, Student Organizations and Leadership Development, the school’s Liberal Studies Core, and sports and wellness are among the topics to be covered.

The students will conclude their visit to Gannon by attending a luncheon with Gannon University president Antoine M. Garibaldi, Ph.D., and Gannon faculty members.

“Knight with Scholars began as a way for prospective students to get a first-hand look at what Gannon has to offer and has grown to be an important aspect of our overall recruitment efforts,” said Miles Vida, enrollment advisor with the Office of Admissions. “The idea is to offer prospective students a welcoming and interactive weekend.”

Participating students will be hosted overnight by current Gannon students. The high school seniors hail from Pennsylvania, New York, Ohio, and West Virginia and as far away as New Hampshire and North Carolina.
