PARENTS OF GANNON WRESTLER CREATE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

The parents of a former Gannon University wrestler have created a scholarship in memory of their late son.

Charles H. and Marguerite Stauffer of Pittsburgh recently established the Harry R. Stauffer Memorial Endowed Scholarship at Gannon University, Erie, Pa. The Stauffers established the scholarship with an initial gift to the university of more than $13,000. Nearly $3,000 of the funds was generated from a benefit golf outing the family held in the fall.

In addition, employees at Harry Stauffer’s former employer, Medicor Associates in Erie, have made a contribution to the scholarship, which benefits members of the Gannon wrestling team who are enrolled in health science programs.

The scholarship is named in honor of Harry Stauffer, who graduated from Gannon in 1987 with a physician assistant (bachelor of science) degree. Stauffer, a member of the Gannon University wrestling team as a student, died in 2003. The scholarship also is designed for academically qualified students with a demonstrated financial need.

For more information on making a contribution to the Harry R. Stauffer Memorial Endowed Scholarship, call 814-871-7786.
