The Writing Center is here to help you become a better writer, not only for a writing class that you are currently taking, but for years to come. We can provide you with writing resources, one-on-one consulting sessions, or just someone with whom to discuss your writing - whatever works best for you. Take a few minutes to look around our site and see what we offer.

Making an Appointment

To make an appointment, stop by the bulletin board just inside 1010 Palumbo and write your name in any time slot that is not already filled in or grayed out. (Grayed out slots mean the Writing Center is not open at that time.)

You can also give us a call at 871-7676 to schedule an appointment, or email us at writingcenter@gannon.edu.

"...writing is a way of arguing with ourselves, a way of keeping ourselves honest by discovering precisely what we believe and finding out whether we are justified in believing it."

~Jim Raymond

Words from the Director

The Writing Center serves as a resource for the entire Gannon community. Our goal is not just to help students produce better papers, but to help people permanently strengthen their writing skills. For many students, writing has always been strictly an academic exercise—and a painful one at that. We at the Writing Center firmly believe that although the short-term goal of a session is to satisfy the requirements of a professor and help the student get a decent grade, the long-term goal should be to improve the student’s writing as a life skill with practical consequences reaching far beyond the academic world. Interviews—and jobs—are won or lost depending on how well one can write.

The Writing Center is not just a place where bad writers go for help. Many of the people who come to us are effective writers looking to get better. We serve freshmen, graduate students, students from all disciplines, and even the occasional faculty member. Call or stop by to make an appointment to work with one of our trained consultants.

-Dr. Douglas King,
Writing Center Director
