Motion Analysis Laboratory

The Doctor of Physical Therapy Program at Gannon University has a graduate assistant position offered jointly through the program and the Motion Analysis Laboratory (MAL) at our local Shriners Hospitals for Children. Applicants should have an interest in developing skills in biomechanical analysis of gait. Students with interest in human motion analysis will be given responsibilities in the MAL at Shriners Hospitals for Children, 1645 West 8th Street, Erie PA.

Position Description:
The Graduate Assistant will serve as a laboratory assistant to the MAL staff during the academic year (August to May). The appointment is for one year and is renewable for a second and third year based on performance.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in biomechanics, movement science, or related area;
  2. Acceptance in the Doctor of Physical Therapy program at Gannon University;
  3. Interest in gait analysis in children and young adults;
  4. Good computer skills;
  5. Interest in or previous experience with clinical research.

Specific Responsibilities:

  1. Assist with the administration of instrumented gait analyses.
  2. Assist with the daily management of the MAL.
  3. Serve as a liaison between the Gannon PT students and the MAL staff.
  4. Assist with Gannon University PT research projects (including data collection and processing).
