Anatomy Laboratory/Teaching Assistant

Gannon University has several graduate assistantship positions available for the 2006-2007 academic year. These positions are available through the Doctor of Physical Therapy program. Students receive a partial tuition waiver and a stipend for approximately 10-12 hours of work per week.

Position Function:
The graduate assistantship (GA) is a laboratory/teaching position in the Physical Therapy Program (School of Health Sciences). Students will assist in the laboratory components in the anatomy Doctor of Physical Therapy course (GDPT 811 Applied Anatomy).

Qualifications:

  1. Must be currently enrolled in the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program at Gannon University with a current GPA of 3.5.
  2. Must have successfully completed an undergraduate course in Cadaver Gross Anatomy with a letter grade of B+ or higher.
  3. Teaching experience preferred as an undergraduate laboratory assistant in a gross anatomy laboratory.

General Duties and Responsibilities:
The graduate assistantship (GA) position will serve as an instructional and service role in the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program. The GA will serve as a laboratory assistant and as a mentor for students having academic difficulties under the supervision of the physical therapy faculty.

Specific Responsibilities:

  1. Preparation of cadavers for laboratory experience in GDPT 811 Applied Anatomy.
  2. Assist physical therapy faculty in lab and equipment set-up and take-down for scheduled lab activities.
  3. Graduate Assistant students will assist with teaching/facilitating labs as requested by the course coordinator.
  4. Provide remedial instruction for first year graduate students on academic probation in the program in conjunction with the faculty advisor.
