The assistantship program provides an opportunity to a select number of students to earn their DPT degree while gaining hands-on experience. Assistantship positions are available in:
Eligibility:
To be considered for appointment, an applicant must be accepted in the graduate physical therapy (DPT) program and have a superior academic average. Athletic trainers must be NATA certified and hold a current Pennsylvania State certification as an ATC.
Duties:
The athletic trainers will provide athletic training services to the Department of Athletics under the supervision of the athletic training staff at Gannon University. The teaching laboratory assistants will assist in the neuroscience or anatomy courses offered in the first year of the graduate DPT program. The laboratory assistant in the Motion Analysis Laboratory will assist the MAL staff with the daily management of the laboratory and will serve as a liaison between students and staff. Studies:
Assistants take graduate courses (27 - 35 credit hours) per year, spaced over the Fall, Spring and Summer sessions. They must maintain a B average.
Appointment:
Appointments are for one academic year, renewable for a second year on satisfactory performance.
Stipend:
Partial tuition (50%) and lab fees for the year will be remitted. A stipend of greater than $2,000 for the first year and greater than $2,500 for the second year will be paid in biweekly installments from September through August. Specific stipend amounts are determined in the spring of each year.
