Irish Rugby National Team Athletic Trainer/Physiotherapist

Gannon University’s Physical Therapy Program offered a unique academic/professional experience for me. The opportunity to practice athletic training for Gannon's Athletic Department and to receive instruction in physical therapy in selected undergraduate courses while working on a physical therapy degree was unique to only Gannon. I was confident I would receive a well rounded physical therapy education because each faculty member continues to practice clinically and many are board certified. The faculty’s strong clinical and academic experience was reinforced by their ability to provide students an opportunity to practice their clinical skills with people of all ages. This was highlighted by my clinical rotation at the Learning Center of the Gertrude Barber Center which is a special needs school in Erie, Pa. More importantly, the program faculty knew each student personally which made for a fun and comfortable learning environment. I would recommend the Gannon experience to any student considering physical therapy as a career.

Positive Steps Therapy

I graduated from the Master of Physical Therapy Program in 1999. I am currently the co-0wner of a private practice which provides physical, occupational, and speech therapy services to children birth to 21 years of age in an out-patient setting.
I chose Gannon University Physical Therapy Program because the program at Gannon University was well respected among other universities as well as among the faculty and the staff of the university itself.
I felt that I was very well prepared to begin my clinical practice both as a student and as a licensed clinician. The faculty of the Physical Therapy Program expected professionalism and clinical competence. They treated us as colleagues and were very approachable for assistance and guidance as needed. I loved my experience at Gannon University. I made great friends. I loved Erie and have wonderful memories of the “stressors” of the physical therapy program.
Chad Flick, Captain, US Army
MPT Class of 2002
I graduated from the Master of Physical Therapy Program in December 2002. I currently serve on active duty as a Captain in the US Army. I am the Physical Therapist for the 5th Special Forces Group at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. The reason I chose to attend Gannon University was because I appreciated the fact that a large percentage of the faculty were board certified specialists in a number of clinical areas. The faculty were all very helpful and easy to work with during my time in the program. Earning a Physical Therapy Degree was not an easy endeavor, but the professors of this program are more than willing to help you if you seek their aid.
I have had many opportunities afforded to me while working in the military. I have treated many different pathologies, injuries and wounds. I have also had the opportunity to be a speaker at the "4th World Confederation for Physical Therapy - Asia Western Pacific Region & the 9th Asia Confederation for Physical Therapy Congress." In all various settings I have had to perform as a physical therapist I do not believe any other Program could have prepared me as well as Gannon University’s Physical Therapy Program. There are many other programs around the country that offer the same PT degree, but none that prepare students for the licensing exam and for practicing in the clinical setting better than Gannon University.
