Voice and Optical Recognition Software

Recent advances in software have presented unique and advantageous opportunities for learning disability accommodations.

First, the Kurzweil machines and software have undergone extensive modification and updating, making for a user-friendly, naturally sounding program that can be installed on a personal computer. PSLD has an operating copy of this revolutionaly program, together with a dedicated optical scanner, running for the fall semester of 2005 and it will be available to PSLD students.

For more information on the Kurzweil and a demonstration of its capabilities, click here. Go to the "Downloads" page.

Second, great strides have been made in the area of voice recognigion technology and this software is available to all PSLD students at a reasonable cost. While there are several brands of software available, it is recommended that you contact the "Dragon" group.
