Pre-Professional Mentoring Symposium

Que-Anh Le, a current LECOM 3+4 student, and Elisa M. Konieczko, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Biology, developed a program for Gannon's female pre-professional students to begin their professional development via networking and meeting with professionals in the healthcare field.

Sharing advise and their experiences with current students, the symposium's speakers included:

  • Cassie Harrington, M.D., Family Practice

  • Heidi Mayer, O.D., Optometrist, Veterans Affairs Hospital

  • A. Miro Jeyapalan, M.D., a Gannon alumnus and Section Head, Division of General Surgery and Director of Surgical Grand Rounds at Saint Vincent Health Center

    In addition, a panel discussion was led by Jami Klingensmith, Assistant Director of Gannon's Career Services & Cooperative Education Office, along with Maricela Ashman, Alicia Taylor, Vera Lafosse, and Lee Spain (also a Gannon alumnus) who are current LECOM students and members of the Student National Medical Association.
