The location of our urban campus allows students to enjoy all the conveniences of city living while feeling at home in Gannon's caring community. The proximity of the campus to Lake Erie, the Presque Isle State Park and a ski resort offers numerous opportunities for recreation and sporting activities.

Academics
  • Students are admitted to the Gannon Occupational Therapy program as Freshmen (or as transfer students in a later year). There is no 'pre-OT' period and there is no re-application for the 'professional' program after your third or fourth year. As long as you maintain the grade requirements in the required curriculum you will be in the program (and taking OT courses) for your entire 5 years.

  • In the Gannon OT program you will earn a bachelor's degree after your fourth year. In programs where admission to the 'professional' curriculum occurs after the third year students often never recieve a bachelor's degree, but only the master's.

  • Gannon's Occupational Therapy program is fully accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE). At the program's most recent accreditation Gannon OT recieved a ten-year accreditation - the maximum possible.

  • OT student presenting her thesis research Gannon Occupational Therapy students are required to conduct evidence based research. There are opportunities for collaboration with faculty on research projects, and many of the papers written are destined for submission for publication. Reasearch conducted by Gannon OT students has been published in The American Journal of Occupational Therapy and other professional journals.

  • Students at Gannon explore internships, co-ops and study abroad opportunities while developing a values-centered, liberal arts foundation--Gannon's "Core of Discovery."

  • Over the past 3 years our graduates (2005 - 2007) have had an 93% first-time pass rate on the National Board of Certification of Occupational Therapy  (NBCOT) national registration exam. There have been 41 graduating students, all of whom have tested, 38 passed their first time taking the test. (As of December 2007 all graduating students from these years have passed the exam.)
