Student Life

recent International Night in the Yehl BallroomAs winter dissipates from the Erie landscape and spring begins to blossom, there is a feeling of excitement in the air; it’s time for International Night!

International Night, presented by the International Student Association, is the biggest event celebrating multicultural diversity during the year. This celebration is attended by over three-hundred people and is growing annually. International Night is a time when the Gannon Community, citizens of Erie, and international students join together to celebrate unity and diversity!

This festive event celebrates the variety of cultures represented by Gannon’s international students, staff, people of international heritage, and those with interest in international doings, such as the Foreign Language Club. At the event, the patrons find themselves stepping into an international food bazaar where a variety of tastes await the palate. Guests simply grab a plate and try dishes from Colombia, Spain, Greece, Pakistan and more. Approximately 15 countries are represented in our food bazaar annually. But the excitement doesn’t end with the food. One can embrace the festive spirit and have mystical henna designs painted on them before they sit down to enjoy an evening full of entertainment.

Cultural entertainment abounds after dinner. Guests are treated to musical acts from around the globe, such as Chinese xylophone music or traditional Indian song. One can also feast the eye on colorful Greek dancers, Indian and Pakistani dancers, and the modeling of silken saris.
